Course Aim
To ensure a systematic process for identifying potential hazard and assessing risks and to identify the hazards that may affect or arise from company activities and assess the associated risks. To reduce the risks to persons, the environment, assets and the business to ALARP and to ensure that individuals exposed to the hazards are aware of the associated risks, the controls implemented to control the risks and their responsibilities with respect to same

    • Causes & sources of fire outbrakes.
    • The chemistry of fire.
    • Overview of fire detection systems (automatic detectors, multiplex, control unit terminal etc…).
  • The Theory of fighting fire
    • Fire prevention VS. fire fighting.
    • Operational principles of fire fighting (starvation, smothering, cooling or heat reduction).
  • Water as a fire fighting agent (Properties, Theory of action, Application methods).
  • Dry chemical powder
    • Types.
    • Specifications / properties.
    • Theory of action.
    • Application methods.
  • Carbon Dioxide
    • Specifications.
    • Theory of action.
    • Application methods.
    • Testing.
